OYO, a major player in the hospitality industry, has recently launched an accelerator program aimed at mentoring first-generation hoteliers who own more than five running properties. The program, which currently has 30 hoteliers enrolled, will provide technology, financial support, relationship managers, and access to OYO’s network of more than 15,000 corporate accounts and 10,000 travel agents in India. The goal is to support these small entrepreneurs who have the potential for growth but lack the necessary resources to expand their businesses.
Anuj Tejpal, the Chief Merchant Officer of OYO, stated that the company has tried to support hoteliers in the past in various ways but realized that they can encourage more hoteliers if they provide special focus to this initiative and move in a planned and targeted manner. The accelerator program’s pilot phase has taken in two hoteliers in Hyderabad, and one each in Kolkata and Delhi, who operate more than 50 properties spread across these three cities.
According to Amruth Bhamidipati, Managing Partner of De Alphabets Group of Hotels in Hyderabad, OYO’s technology-driven approach helps in customer acquisition, and its hotel brands such as OYO Townhouse have consistency in quality, cleanliness, and service standards across all locations, ensuring customer loyalty. Another participant, Aman Deep Kamboj, Founder of Qotel Hospitality in New Delhi, added that they have been associated with OYO for the past three years and that the brand ensures customer loyalty, which is vital for the growth of their business.
The OYO program plans to add more than 200 properties in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai in South India, Delhi and Noida in the North, Kolkata and Siliguri in the East, and Mumbai in the West. This initiative is expected to encourage more small entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams and bring about significant growth in the hospitality sector.
